This is the internet home of AMHPA – the association for AMHPs practising in the North West of England and North Wales.
AMHPA has been in existence for over twenty years and was known as ASWIG before the implementation of the Mental Health Act 2007. AMHPA is primarily known for its regular conferences and as an partner in Taking Stock – the annual mental health law conference organised in partnership with the University of Manchester.
The purpose of AMHPA is to support AMHPs achieve their mandatory annual requirement to undertake training appropriate to their role and to foster a supportive culture amongst practitioners.
The committee of event planners and company directors who run AMHPA are all volunteers and currently practising AMHPs.
Membership of AMHPA is through an annual corporate membership fee paid for by the Local Authority granting an AMHP’s warrant to practice. Any AMHP working on behalf of a member authority can consider themselves to be a member of AMHPA. Attendance at AMHPA events is at the discretion of the AMHP professional leads and training coordinators of the member Local Authorities.
